Song: Epeynam sa parxaria – Song in Rumca (dialect of Beşköy, Trabzon) by Beşköylü Adem

Epeynam sa parxaria  Listen to the song

Epeynam sa parxaria e manam me t’esena (2x)
We used to go to the alms, oh Mama, with you

Panta nunizo klaigo nt’edevane ta xronia
Always I reflect and mourn the past years

Epeyname s’ormania e manam me t’esena (2x)
We used to go to the forests, oh Mama, with you

Ego mikros emune efortusunemena
I was a little boy (and) you carried me

Manam s’onirom ida emune sa parxaria
Oh Mama, I saw in my dream (that) I was on the alms

Manam so ipnom ida emune sa parxaria
Oh Mama, I saw in my sleep (that) I was on the alms

To tshayir epoksame theriksam’ ta xortaria
We cut the pasture grass and reaped the herbage

Manam esi s’emena teremam eleyizes
Mama, you shunned to look at me (for fear of doing me harm)

Son dunya amu yetimis efitshesme tshe’piges
In the world like an orfan you left me and went away

Tin imera dakrizes ta vradia ekleyes
By day you wept, by night you cried

Pos na exortasase asa sheriam ekseves
How could I (possibly) have got enough of you – you (just) slipped out of my hands

(I used a fairly basic English transliteration for rendering the sounds of the dialect. The English translation may sound a bit clumsy because I tried to keep the original syntax.)
